2 How We Use Your Information

We use the personal information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Matching riders with nearby available drivers

  • Sending real-time trip status updates and push notifications
  • Enabling in-app communication between riders and support staff
  • Displaying driver location on the rider's map during a trip

  • Processing emergency SOS alerts and notifying our safety team

3 Location Data

Important: Taxi Burq is a location-based service. Accurate location access is essential for the app to function. Without location permission, you cannot book or accept trips.

How Location Is Used

  • Riders: Your pickup location is used to find nearby drivers and calculate the fare. Location is collected only when the app is in use or when you have an active trip.
  • Drivers: Your location is shared with nearby riders and our dispatch system while you are set to "Online" or "Available." Location sharing stops when you go offline.

Background Location

The app may request background location access for drivers to ensure accurate dispatch and trip tracking even when the app is minimized during an active trip. We do not collect background location when you are offline or have no active trip.

Location Data Retention

Precise GPS coordinates from trips are retained for 90 days after trip completion, then anonymized or deleted. General trip route summaries are kept as part of your trip history.

Opt-Out

You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. Note that doing so will prevent you from using core trip features.

4 Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

5 Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Specific retention periods:

  • Account data โ€” Retained until you delete your account, plus 30 days for backup recovery.
  • Trip history โ€” Retained for 2 years for dispute resolution and legal compliance.
  • Precise GPS coordinates โ€” 90 days after trip completion, then anonymized.
  • Payment records โ€” 5 years as required by financial regulations.
  • Support messages โ€” 1 year after ticket closure.
  • Driver documents โ€” Deleted within 30 days of account closure.
  • Server logs โ€” 30 days.

6 Your Rights & Data Deletion

Depending on your location, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Update inaccurate or incomplete information through your profile settings.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
  • Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Restriction: Request that we limit processing of your data in certain circumstances.
  • Objection: Opt out of marketing communications at any time.

How to Delete Your Account & Data

You can request complete deletion of your Taxi Burq account and all associated personal data using any of the following methods:

  1. In-App: Go to Profile โ†’ Settings โ†’ Delete My Account
  2. Email: Send a deletion request to privacy@taxiburq.com with subject "Account Deletion Request"
  3. Support: Open a ticket in the Support Center and select "Account Issue"

We will process your request within 30 days. Some data may be retained longer if required by law (e.g., payment records). Trip data shared with drivers at time of service cannot be fully recalled.

7 Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information:

  • All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption
  • Passwords are stored using bcrypt hashing โ€” never in plain text
  • JWT access tokens expire after 24 hours; refresh tokens after 30 days
  • Payment card details are handled exclusively by our PCI-DSS compliant payment partner
  • Administrative access is role-based with audit logging of all actions
  • Regular security assessments of our infrastructure

Despite our efforts, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach that affects your rights, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

8 Children's Privacy

Taxi Burq is not directed to children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at privacy@taxiburq.com and we will delete such information promptly.
